Recently spent the afternoon in the forest with my work colleagues and Mick & Wayne. It was an amazingly chilled and special afternoon. Not only because this was the first time our team had been able to come together since before covid, but because of the setting and relaxed vibe. I always knew I loved being in the woods, walking, listening, breathing in the smells etc, and being there for a whole afternoon really had a positive effect on me. I even got in touch with my inner cave-women, learning how to light a fire! It’s probably fair to say that every one of us has, or at some point will go through things in their life that test the very core of their well being. For those who do face this, I can personally vouch that any time spent in this tranquil, calm and relaxing woodland setting with Mick and Wayne will change your whole perspective and give you the inner peace that you need. I cannot advocate and endorse this experience and these guys enough. They are both so knowledgeable and exceptionally professional at what they do, and they make you feel welcome immediately. There’s no set agenda, no strict regime and no pressure. There’s just nature, togetherness, (or solitude if that’s what you prefer), a return to the most basic but amazing survival techniques such as starting a fire and making your own tools, and an environment that makes you feel safe and at ease.
All of this amounts to the realisation that there are coping mechanisms and you can therefore cope. That is what this perfect retreat will do for you. I cannot say thank you enough, it was an absolute privilege to be involved. What a way to spend an afternoon! What a way to spend an afternoon! Huge thanks to Mick and Wayne for providing us with such a safe and grounding experience peppered with good humor and a genuine passion for what they do. SMF make this all about you - it's your time and space to enjoy; and that sort of freedom definitely opens up a willingness to participate and soak up all that the forest has to offer. I can't wait to plan a family event at SMF because I know it will be so valuable for us all. I can't think of one person who wouldn't benefit from this most wonderful experience. Thank you!More reviews+12
This was an amazing experience. A total escape from the real world and stresses just melted away, just wish we could have been there longer. Wayne and Mick really know their stuff when it comes to the woods, camping and survival. Can't wait to go wild camping there with my kids.

What a wonderful day! I arranged this woodland well-being morning for our work team who are all remote workers and we don’t see much of each other. We were given the most amazing welcome by Wayne and Mick and enjoyed an inspirational day of camp fires, building fires, lying in hammocks, forest bathing, s’mores and toasted marshmallows and an educational walk around the woods. Wayne and Mick are wonderful hosts making us all welcome and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our team bonding day. Thank you so much!Absolutely incredible place and organisation. Can not recommend Surviving Minds more! We learnt so much, we had time to relax and focus on our wellbeing, we laughed, we drank hot chocolates and ate a deliciously lunch served by the guys, honestly was a magical experience and we will 10000% be back!

I was privileged to attended a course with The south west ambulance service. What a fantastic experience. The day was relaxing, informative and holistic without being so consciously. we learnt some fabulous woodland skills and whittling techniques as well as water divining and woodland bathing. The guidance from both Wayne and Mick was spot on and both made sure we were looked after superbly. we sat around a burning camp fire ate food with the tools we had made and shared our experiences in a safe and unforced manor.. I can't recommend this experience highly enough. it should be part of the National curriculum. What an amazing experience, left feeling completely chilled out. Wayne and Mick are the best hosts, so knowledgeable about bushcraft and make you feel at ease. I have not laughed so much in a long time, also picked up some great skills for future camping trips and if I ever get stranded in a forest. If you get the opportunity to go to one of their sessions, please take it! You will not regret it.

Just spent the most relaxing morning in the woodland with Mick and my work colleagues. It was amazing being able to take time out from the pace of life to just be in nature; learning new skills, walking, listening, working together as a team and just soaking up the atmosphere. I feel so calm and relaxed for the first time in ages. I would fully recommend this for other teams, families and individuals, it is well worth investing the time.

I recently went here as part of a team building afternoon. Mick and Wayne were thoroughly hospitable, knowledgeable and great fun! It was a chance to regroup post Covid pandemic to reflect and refocus for the time ahead. I was worried that some of my team who were not natural woodland enthusiasts would not find benefit in the session but far from it! The feedback I had confirmed that everyone had a good time and was able to find something that appealed to them. Personally I found the time positive and calming and I hope they do another stars walk as I would like to go back with my family. I’ve just spent a very peaceful morning in a little bit of paradise! A chance to absorb the woods without the distractions of work or home - I would recommend this to those who need a chance to take themselves away from their daily pressures. The deciduous woodland had a magical atmosphere with a campfire and good company. There was no pressure to participate in activities but the option was there to learn some wood craft skills and try new things. Or just relax in a hammock and gaze at the trees! Today we booked a day at the surviving minds foundation for our entire team at work! Wow! The guys were incredible from start to finish! They were so welcoming, funny and caring! They straight away put the whole team of 25 women at ease! They made the day entirely about them and their well-being and went over and above to ensure they had the best time! As employers we could see our teams bonding, having fun and working together through the activities and it truly was the best money spent to build on team wellness and team spirit and gave everyone a very well deserved relaxing day! I can’t thank the guys enough, you are incredible at what you do and we can’t wait to visit again! Thank you for the best day! A true hidden diamond located in Dorset!Had the best morning with my work colleagues having fun, relaxing, learning new skills and spending much needed quality together time!!! We all lead such busy lives, we forget to just stop, breathe and just be in the moment. Wayne and Mick were an absolute pleasure to be around, they were lots of fun, very informative and extremely welcoming ( we all didn't want to leave!) I can't recommend this experience enough!!!
Spent a fantastic morning here in the peace and calm of the forest with my work team. I cannot recommend it highly enough, Mick and Wayne are brilliant guides, we learnt new skills, had plenty of fun along the way, reconnected with each other and just enjoyed some time away from the fast pace of life. I certainly plan to go back!

What an inspiring experience!
Our work team attended a half day "reconnect with nature" experience this morning which was just absolute bliss.
All the team at SMF were so welcoming and interesting to talk to, they really put us all at ease.
The day was both informative, learning about the ancient woodland and some bushcraft skills, and extremely chilled, with the opportunity to lounge in hammocks or just sit by the fire with a hot drink reconnecting with ourselves.
After such a stressful few years, this really does help to restore that inner calm and help you see things from a different perspective.
I honestly would love to come back and bring my family here for wild camping.
Highly, highly recommend, you guys are doing a fantastic job. Thank you.Opening hours
